Abstract

Puropse: This study was designed to examine the effect of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction on Psychological Symptoms and Quality of Cadet Life at AFNA. Methods: This was a quasi-experimental study with a non-equivalent control group pre-post test design. Participants were 65 1st and 2nd grade AFNA cadets who were assigned to the 1st and 2nd company (experimental group 37 control group 28). The experimental group received MBSR for eight 90mins session over 4weeks. Data were analyzed using t-test and repeated measures ANOVA to examine the hypotheses. Results: The experimental group had significantly lower scores on psychological symptoms of anxiety and higher scores on quality of cadet life in a domain of psychology compared to the control group. Conclusion: According to the results MBSR was effective in decreasing anxiety and increasing quality of life of AFNA cadets. Therefore this program is an effective nursing intervention to decrease stress in AFNA cadets. In addition the key findings of this study will offer valuable information on the development of discipline program.
